Actichem office building remodel was finally completed in September 2020 after almost a year of construction works. Construction was affected by the pandemic, what with all the long lockdowns throughout the country which were mostly what 2020 was.

Still, we are all deeply grateful for this great blessing as our good Lord Jesus Christ continues to prosper and expand our company.

With His continued guidance and grace, Actichem will ever be moving forward in bringing the latest, most innovative, and cost-effective cosmetic ingredients for the manufacture of skin, hair, and personal care products.

Actichem and Ichimaru Visit Cebu

October 2, 2018 by rrperu Filed Under: News/Blog Leave a Comment

Actichem president Felix Peru, together with Ms. Karen Emnil and Mr. Ryo Nishiyama of Ichimaru Pharcos of Japan flew to beautiful Cebu on September 17 to visit key accounts that are headquartered there. We are so grateful and indeed, empowered, that the largest Philippine pharmaceuticals company, International Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (IPI), has opened its doors to us and to our number one Japanese supplier as they embark on a new venture, riding the bandwagon of the prosperous Cosmetics Industry as they hurtle into the bright, shining horizon full of beautiful dreams and expectations.

IPI is not too far from achieving its new vision. Established many decades ago, the company is backed by a highly innovative Research and Development Division, which in their own words is “the core of the company” and a solid and sturdy distribution system here and abroad.

Mr. Ryo Nishiyama flew in from Ichimaru headquarters in Gifu, Japan, armed with detailed presentation materials of their innovative, multifunctional cosmetic ingredients that are widely used here and abroad. The product presentation was attended by many of IPI staff, eager to learn more about the wonderful world of cosmetics, the science behind it, the complexity of formulation, and the diversity of ingredients used. We so appreciate their deep interest.

We look forward to a successful partnership with them. Highlights of the visit on photos down below.

The three also visited another important client based in Mandaue, Cebu, Quicksilver Health Products Industrial Corp., maker of SKINMATE brand of cosmetic products. They were welcomed by no less than Ms. Liroona June Cabahug, owner of Quicksilver, and Ms. Judy Cabahug, Purchasing Manager. It was equally a productive visit as our companies both look forward to a prosperous partnership. Thank you so much for the warm welcome and for opening your doors to Actichem and all its offering.

Actichem Celebrates 20 Years

March 28, 2018 by rrperu Filed Under: News/Blog Leave a Comment

Actichem Marketing Corporation successfully celebrated its 20th anniversary, holding another joint technical seminar with supplier-partners Ichimaru Pharcos and Ajinomoto on February 6th at the Eastwood Richmonde Hotel. It was a great way of celebrating 20 years of beauty and blessings, imparting more technical knowledge and support to its valuable clients, staunch partners in the business.

Actichem staff were overwhelmed by the turnout, welcoming 63 attendees from 38 companies, adding in the guest speakers that arrived from Japan and Singapore. But the company and its staff were more than ready, having prepared presentations courtesy of its two stalwart suppliers, Ichimaru and Ajinomoto. There was also the raffle of prizes which brought so much fun and laughter, ending the whole-day affair with fanfare.

20 Years of Blessings and Beauty Part 2

January 18, 2018 by rrperu Filed Under: News/Blog Leave a Comment

The Change

I had it all planned out, how the future of Actichem was going to be, but God had other plans. The winds of change were about to blow our way. In 2003, I fell ill. Without going to so much detail, I wasn’t able to go back to work ever again.

acti20

Actichem founder and former president Rina Peru with husband, current president Felix Peru.

I wouldn’t tell you how much devastation this brought to our company and our family, but I will tell you how God worked in an amazing way in our lives and in Actichem. He brought salvation to our family. He restored what needed restoring and fixed what needed fixing. And He brought the greatest change in our company: He put my husband, Felix Peru, at the helm. He was the best candidate, considering that Actichem is more of a family business than an empire. The problem was, Felix is a mechanical engineer by profession and had worked in the Food Industry for nearly two decades.

But with God nothing is impossible.

IMG_20170323_153512675

Actichem President Engr. Felix Peru addressing the audience at one of the joint technical seminars of Ichimaru and Ajinomoto.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was with Felix from day 1. It was a difficult few years what with my illness and a business to learn and a company to steer through turbulent waters. But He saw us through it all. He brought Actichem to new and greater heights and blessed it beyond all expectations. God is the One at the helm – all praise, honor, thanksgiving and glory to His name!

Our suppliers stuck with us. I would like to especially mention Ichimaru, Ajinomoto, and Marcor. Their support to our company and clientele is remarkable – more power and success to them!

Over the years, God grew Actichem and enlarged its territory. There are now more or less 70 active clients and 25 or so well-loved product offerings and these continue to increase by God’s abundant grace.

So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. (1 Cor. 3:7)

So, celebrate with us as we remember the goodness of the Lord and declare His mighty and wondrous works. We look forward to even brighter and more beautiful tomorrows!

And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth… (Debut. 8:18)

20 Years of Blessings and Beauty Part 1

January 18, 2018 by rrperu Filed Under: News/Blog Leave a Comment

There are no more apt descriptors for the last 20 years of Actichem’s existence than these – blessings and beauty – and we only have our Father in heaven, from whom all good things flow, to thank for.

Very Humble Beginnings

Twenty years ago this very month, the dream that blossomed in my heart came into reality. Only the second day after New Year’s Day in 1998, a bright and quiet day with only a smattering of clouds on the sky, I set out to register Actichem as a business and to secure permits. I was the only person in queue in the municipal hall and I remember it vividly like it was only yesterday. I was up early; the sun was still gently rising in the east when the lady behind the counter, still holding that New Year’s cheer, received my application. I remember the smiles and easy bantering with her. Even then, the blessings of God had begun to pour out like soft January shower.

Actichem founder and former president Rina Peru.

I was only 30 and didn’t have a capital to boot, but my new fax machine and computer sitting on my desk in my apartment office held a promise. My capital wasn’t monetary but a strong faith in how God can realize a girl’s dream. It is He who puts that dream in our hearts and by believing and trusting in Him and in ourselves (for He equips us), He will bring the dream to fruition.

So, it was that for me: faith and courage. God has blessed me with strong technical knowledge (I’m a licensed chemical engineer), good health and determination, and so, I set out to establish my dream that would soon be called Actichem Marketing Corporation.

Trials of a Fledgling Company

I never expected it to be easy, but boy, was it really hard and challenging! There were tears and doubts but God brought me through all those, not in the blink of an eye, but through months of labor, bursts of inspiration and motivation, prayers, and lots of perseverance. I also received a lot of help, big and small, from people inside and outside of the Cosmetics Industry, generous and kind, believing in my word and the work I did. May God bless each and everyone of them and their children!

Remembering to Give Thanks

From the very beginning, Ichimaru Pharcos of Japan had been there, believing in Actichem and a bright future ahead. Their technical support was full, always eager and ready to be of service.

As I have mentioned above, there were many who believed in Actichem and its products – compounding pharmacists, dermatologists, and other small businesses that were starting up just as I was. Many became my good friends through the years even outside of the business arena. I would like to especially mention Chat Guerrero† of Cherard Labs, Cecille Mercado of DS Cosmeceuticals, Dina Stalder of Stalder Labs, Dr. Jonathan Dizon, and Dr. Isabel Nazal. All beautiful people with kind and generous spirit. (There were many others but I can’t mention them all by name now. Please forgive me).

But the big break came with this giant of a company, then making waves in the Cosmetics Industry and a force to be reckoned with.

It wouldn’t seem right if I didn’t mention it especially – Splash Manufacturing Corporation was the very first big company that trusted Actichem. They developed a line of products using our Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate or K2G. During the formal dinner of Splash’s inauguration of their new manufacturing plant in Lazaro, tears of gratitude fell from my eyes while we sang a hymn.

What Actichem Stands For

Actichem is founded on the belief in products, active ingredients for the manufacture of cosmetics – for skin, hair, and personal care – that are really effective as well as safe. Actichem doesn’t only sell, it educates and gives full technical support until a good, outstanding product can be pushed through the pipelines to shelves and into the hands of the consumer.

That has always been the company’s motto and the one thing that it continuously strives to do up to the present moment.

These had been my guideposts through the years that I led Actichem and I hope, the ones that are still deeply rooted within its backbone:

  • Lead. Do not be an imitator, a me-too.
  • Do not focus on the competitor. You will stumble and lose your way if you do not look straight ahead.
  • Invest in a rich and sturdy technical background and share it with the client without reservation. Give and you will receive.
  • Believe in your self and the talents and intellect God has generously endowed you with. Envision without boundaries and limits.
  • Work hard. Pray. Persevere. Give thanks.

To be continued…

IZAYOI: The Latest in Anti-Aging

April 24, 2017 by rrperu Filed Under: Skin Leave a Comment

Ichimaru Pharcos recently launched its latest active ingredient for skin care called “IZAYOI.” Now, don’t be deceived by the name, for though it’s alien-sounding, it is actually derived from the fruit of the delicate rose. Yes, the flower that we all know and love. You might wonder how the lovely rose came to have “fruit”, but this is not your ordinary rose. IZAYOI is an extract of Rosa Roxburghii Tratt f. normalis, more commonly known as “chestnut rose”. The fruits are globular and very hairy and thorny and resemble chestnut, thus, the name.

The fruit of Rosa Roxburghii, from which IZAYOI is extracted, contains very high levels of vitamins and minerals, especially vitamins C and P, flavanoids and other bio-active compounds. The vitamin C content of chestnut rose fruits is about 120 times higher than that of citrus fruits.¹

It is proved that the fruit juice can halt or reverse the growth of cancers, may enhance immunity and can be used to combat stress and aging. Moreover, considerable high superoxide dismutase (SOD) can be detected in this fruit.²

Technical Background

Ageing skin is more sensitive to UV. The minimum erythemal dose or MED decreases with age. Because of this, keratinocytes are easily damaged and their survival rate becomes drastically lower. But that’s not the end of it. Dead keratinocytes could wreak havoc on the skin. They release “damage-associated molecular patterns” or DAMPs. These DAMPs, in turn, initiate inflammation in surrounding live cells. DAMPs are involved in the earliest stage of skin aging due to UV exposure.

IZAYOI Activity

Based on the characteristic features of chestnut rose fruit discussed above, IZAYOI, an extract of the fruit, has been developed to prevent skin aging caused by UV, especially for women age 40 and above. Specifically, IZAYOI inhibits UV-induced inflammation brought about by DAMPs.

IZAYOI is a very promising anti-aging active that is worth further study and development in skin care products.

To request for complete in vitro and in vivo studies of IZAYOI, please call Actichem office. Or request for a product presentation by one of our technical representatives.

Additionally, IZAYOI won both the Active Ingredients Award and the R&D Award during the Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients 2017 in Guangzhou, China.

Kashmiri Lavender Essential Oil

July 5, 2016 by rrperu Filed Under: News/Blog Leave a Comment

Some prejudiced people may look down on India as a source of essential oils. “Why India?” Some may ask. And why not India? I ask in return. We have been “educated” that France must be the best source for essential and fragrance oils. France. Just the name itself connotes prestige, opulence, beauty, intoxicating scents, and fields and fields of fragrant flowers, like dreams are made of these.

lavender

Maybe true on all counts. But India? India has been there as in forever, yes, long before France came into being. The history of India goes as far back as 2500 BC. In the Old Testament of the Bible, in The Book of Esther, we read, “Now in the days of Ahasuerus, the Ahasuerus who reigned from India to Ethiopia over 127 provinces…” (Es. 1:1, emphasis mine).

But what has history got to do with our topic of essential oils? Much, I’d say. India knows essential oils. They are a vital part of Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing that has its origins in the Vedic culture of India. Tibetan medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine both have their roots in Ayurveda. Early Greek medicine also embraced many concepts originally described in the classical ayurvedic medical texts dating back thousands of years.

(Taken from The Chopra Center website).

One of the goals of Ayurveda is to offer cures using diet, herbs, aromatherapy, massage treatments, to name a few. We may very well trace the origins of the spa revolution to Ayurveda.

Let it be known that I am not into Ayurveda 🙂 . We are discussing these things to establish that India knows essential oils since ancient times. And that important aspect cleared, I would like to introduce to you our Kashmiri Lavender Essential Oil from India.

KASHMIRI LAVENDER OIL (LAVENDULA AUGUSTIFOLIA)

Production

Lavender oil is produced by steam distillation of the flowering tops of Lavendula Angustifolia, and is produced mainly in India, France and Hungary. India is famous for its Kashmiri Lavender Oil around the world. Kashmiri soil and climatic conditions are conducive to producing and growing the best Lavendula Angustifolia plants that yield outstanding quality Lavender Essential Oil. Even the odor profile of Kashmiri Lavender Essential Oil is by far and undoubtedly the best in the world.

Components
Kashmiri Lavender Essential Oil has an herbal floral sweet odor. It is a clear pale liquid. The main chemical components of this Lavender oil are Linalyl Acetate, Linalool, Alpha Pinene, Beta Pinene and Terpinene-4-ol. It is extracted from Lavendula Augustifolia. Lavendula Augustifolia is a strongly aromatic shrub growing up to 1 to 2 metres high. The leaves are evergreen. The flowers are pinkish-purple or lavender-colored.
Cultivation
Fresh from the Lavender valleys of Kashmir, this superior high altitude Lavender oil rivals the best French and Hungarian Lavenders. This Kashmiri jewel is complex and sweet, with a lush, herbaceous bouquet and is devoid of adulteration.

Our Kashmiri Lavender is grown in the foothills of the Himalayas, in high-altitude valleys famed for their rich harvests of aromatic and medicinal plants. More than 50% of plant species described in the British pharmacopoeia are reported to grow in the Kashmir Valley. Redolent of the mountain air and glacial waters of its home, this particular variety of Lavender oil is especially high in Linalool, the compound responsible for its relaxing and soothing properties.

Purity and Profile

The Kashmiri Lavender oil contains a good percentage of both Linalool and Linalyl Acetate, and scores above the Hungarian, French Lavender oils in both ingredients and confirms to European Pharmacopeia 5 standards. Camphor gives Lavender oil the undesirable medicinal/camphoraceous odor. The Kashmiri Lavender oil has very low camphor and this contributes to its excellent fragrance. The Camphor content in the Kashmiri Lavender oil is the lowest when compared to the Hungarian and French Lavender oils. Kashmiri Lavender oil has a sweet and refreshing aroma.

Uses

Kashmiri Lavender oil is used to treat a variety of health conditions. It is used for headaches, depression, nervousness, insomnia, exhaustion, rheumatism, in relieving muscle spasms, in stimulating blood flow, and as a cell regenerator. It supports the digestive and respiratory systems, and joint health, it reduces inflammation, fights infection, promotes skin healing and supports healthy tissue growth, it helps treat sunburns and sunstroke, it is used for the relief of asthmatic and bronchitic spasm, it helps to eliminate nits, it is used to treat head lice, it is used as an antiseptic and pain reliever, it is used for minor burns, insect bites and stings, it is used to prevent scarring and stretch marks, and to prevent wrinkles. It is carminative, sedative, analgesic, antidepressant, antiseptic and antibacterial.

The oil is used in perfumery, aromatherapy, insect repellent, lotions, haircare, skincare, and body care products.

Kashmiri Lavender oil blends well with Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Geranium, Pine, Nutmeg and all the Citrus oils.
