Bio-PGA Solution Series (♈︎-Polyglutamic Acid)

Bio PGA solution is a high-performance cosmetic moisturizer that's produced with fermentation. First, we begin with natto. Natto is a quintessential Japanese delicacy made from fermented soybeans. Natto is very sticky and slimy, imparting a unique and exceptional texture and sensorial experience on the skin. This sticky and slimy component is a high-molecule amino acid called ♈︎-Polyglutamic Acid (PGA). ♈︎-PGA is highly valued in cosmetics, but its production from natto using soybeans is a very expensive process.

Ichimaru Pharcos' solution was to produce ♈︎-polyglutamic acid by fermenting α-polyglutamic acid using Bacillus subtillis var. natto. Due to the bacterial fermentation process, naturally occurring ♈︎-PGA tends to be larger (often 10 to 10,000 kDa) compared to synthetically produced α-PGA.
